The long days and warm weather make summer an excellent time to tackle some projects on your to-do list. Here are a few summer projects to add to your calendar.
Pressure Wash Your Outdoor Areas
If your home’s exterior areas have layers of dirt, grime, and other ick, a pressure washing session will get them looking their best. A pressure washer uses a high-powered stream of water to clean driveways, siding, patios, decks, and walkways.
You can usually rent a pressure washer from your local hardware store. When using it, make sure to spray downward so that you don’t force water into any cracks. Always use a low-pressure setting on surfaces that are easily damaged, like wood decks.
Refresh Your Home’s Exterior Paint
Fresh paint will instantly transform your home’s exterior. Since exterior house painting is a fairly labor-intensive job that requires special equipment to safely reach high areas, you may prefer to hire a pro to handle this project.
Beautify Your Landscaping
Add instant curb appeal to your home by overhauling your landscaping. Start by mowing your lawn and raking and bagging any grass clippings. You should also remove any dead vegetation or old leaves.
Weed-eat around your driveway, walkways, trees, and flower beds. If your flower beds are lacking in color, plant perennial plants to make sure they’re full of gorgeous color for years to come.
Clean and Check Your Gutters
Clogged gutters can cause a host of problems for your home, including foundation damage and erosion.
You can use a power washer on a low to medium setting to blast dirt, leaves, sticks, and other debris out of your gutters. Or, you can use your garden hose and a gutter cleaning attachment to clear your gutters.
While you’re cleaning your gutters, examine them to make sure they’re in good shape. Gutters that are damaged won’t properly direct water away from your home.
When sending water through your gutter, make sure that it isn’t leaking from any areas. Visually examine your gutters for cracks, holes, or other damage.
